In life there can be many first time experiences that become a special part of our memories. Destined to never be forgotten, they can seem as real today as the day they happened. Maybe the first day of school or even your first kiss. Very memorable and exciting events. What special memories are forever etched into our minds?

The first of July I ran my first marathon in moonbeam, it was a 10k marathon. It was my second time running a 10k and I got to beat my time of 15 minutes! My first marathon was such a great feeling. The race began at 9am so it was the perfect temperature to run. Not too cold and not too hot. My goal was not too be the first, I wasn’t even worried of being last, my goal was to finish it. It was hard but the kind of exhaustion you feel after a marathon is a whole different kind of tired. You are completely drained of all physical, emotional, and mental strength. Every muscle in my legs were burning, and they were hurting a lot. When you past the  finish line the sense of relief is enormous. Your brain can finally shut down, the splits, the mile markers, the worrying about the pace, too fast, too slow, too soon, too late, it’s over. Was it worth it? Oh Yeah! No regrets. I can’t wait to run my next marathon! Next year, I am thinking of doing a half marathon! With motivation, you can achieve anything!

You should all try to run a marathon, it is such a good experience:)

Hello! For this blog assignment  we have to create a 30 second commercial on what we would do to catch the audience’s attention and increase the sell of personalized towels.

I would like to start by saying thank you to Signature Towels.  for sponsoring the miss teen Canada world pageant.  Signature towels are towels that you can add your unique personal touch to. You can have it in any colors you want and you can add your name or your initials on it. It is a perfect gift that you can offer to your loved ones or a gift you can make yourself! Also, its a gift for a boy or a girl and for all ages. Everybody needs a towel right?

  • Perfect gift
  • Personal gift
  • Everyone uses towels, you can’t go wrong with it as a gift
  • Signature Towels gives you the option of making it unique for the person you like toEach product is carefully researched until we are satisfied that the quality befits our brand. We take pride in offering only the highest quality product. gift; fun and trendy, or elegant and classic
  • They offer good service and they want to keep a good relationship with their customers.
  • They strive to keep their costs low so they can deliver excellent quality gift services at very reasonable prices.
  • No matter the quantity or specifications, Signature Towels ensures to have the order exceed to customer’s expectations.

Have you ever been in a situation were you fought over a towel? Many people has, especially in big families . In my 30 second commercial I want to show how many advantages there is to have a personalized signature towel. There are many things I could show in the commercial, I definitely would capture all the uses there is for this type of towel. For example, you could bring it to the beach, you could bring it to the public pool, you can use it in your own bathroom and many more. Lets see what I would capture in my 30 second commercial on the advantages of a signature towel.

The first 10 second scene would be in  a public pool where there is a lot of people and sometimes when you come out of the pool you only want to get your towel to warm up. It happens that you take the wrong towel or someone takes yours by accident. By having a signature towel you would immediately see  that your name is on it and you would  be sure that it is yours. In my commercial I would capture kids playing in the pool and then there would be a little boy coming out of the pool and running to get his towel because he is freezing, I would show 2 identical blue towels but then on one of them there would be the little boys name so he would know that its his towel.

The other 10 second scene would start with the song splish splash by Bobby Darin and there will be two little girls playing in a bath and having a good time. The first 5 second of the scene would be when the little comes out of the bath they start fighting over their towels. What wouldn’t siblings fight over right? So the girls are fighting because there is a pink towel and a purple one and they both one the pink one. They are screaming and fighting and pushing each other until mom stops doing the dishes and comes in to stop the fight. In the other half of this scene, I would show the same scenario. The two little girls laughing and splashing each other. The difference is that when the two little girls comes out and take there towel without fighting because they have their names written on it. Not only it stopped the fight, but mom didn’t have to stop doing the dishes to stop the fight.

In the last 10 second scene. There would be sad music playing. When a little boy comes out of the shower and is looking for his towel, he see’s that its not there. He screams for his mom to bring a towel and she answers that they are all in the laundry! His mother is mad because she has so many laundry to do with all these towels!  After this scene there would be the same scenario again, but, when the little boy comes out of the shower there would be 5 towels on a hook with each of the family member’s name so he won’t have to scream to his mother to get a towel.

Like you noticed, not only is the signature towel a great gift that will last long and be personalized. It also creates a better atmosphere in the family. It reduce fighting between sibling and it is also environmental friendly because there is not as much laundry to do.  I know that in my case, half of the laundry is only with towels, imagine how much laundry we would save with Signature towels!  How often are we looking for ideas to buy gifts for a birthday or Christmas or any special occasions? Instead of buying a card with money or a gift certificate, signature towels would definitely be better! From now on, when I need to buy a gift for someone on special occasions, I will buy signature towel gifts!

Hi everyone, I’m writing a post today for my dad on Father’s day. Do you know what father means?  Father means being Faithful , being Always there, Trustworthy, Honoring, Ever-loving, Righteous and Supportive.  I would like to take the time today to write about what a great man and of course a great father he is. Since I’m a little girl , he has always been there to support me and to encourage me to be the best I can be. It started with figure skating, he was always there to teach me how to give my hundred percent in every practice to get better at it. Then it was with hockey, he encouraged me to shoot my pucks everyday to get better, he though me how to work hard and to never give up. He also does the same thing with my brother and sister that are both in travelling team. He is the best hockey coach ever. When I had a hard time with mathematics, he was always there to help me and do extra examples to practice and get better! He truly is a hero and I would like to thank him for everything he does for me and the whole family!

Dad, we appreciate everything you do for us.

your daughter that loves you very much.

Many people wonder what there is to do in such a small town.
Hearst is a small French community with a average of 5000 citizen. Because of the fact that we are a community filled with passionate people that wants to make our town the best it can be, we have many things to do for such a small town. Immerse yourself in our francophone community and let us share with you our unique culture and passion for Arts with a visit to our newly built Place des Arts. Hiking, canoeing,
kayaking, camping , fishing, golfing , hunting, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling are a few of the many outdoor activities visitors can enjoy in our vast and picturesque region. For people that love nature, Hearst is the perfect place for you! However, If you come in the summer time, do NOT forget your bug spray because there sure is a lot of mosquitos!

To begin, I will start taking about Veilleux Camping and Marina. It is an impressive chain of five lakes, bathed by magnificent Lake Pivabiska. The site welcomes visitors in the summer and in the winter time. Its wild beauty and open spaces hold the promise of unforgettable family vacations.  For the summer time, the chain of lake is well known for its exceptional fishing and wide variety of sporting activities it offers. Adventures and challenges await kayakers, windsurfers, recreational boaters and water-skiers. The campground also has a quiet beach reserved for family swimming. Once night has fallen, you can admire the spectacular Northern Lights from around your campfire. It is said that the lights dance for lovers. Come live the legend! For the winter time, Several generations of enthusiastic snowmobilers have created more than 900 km of marked trails across the region which are also connected with the interprovincial network. The enchanting landscapes of the boreal forest attract cross-country skiers to a variety of groomed trails. Experience skiing by moonlight. And for those with greater patience, there are hungry fish under the ice ready to be enticed by a fisherman’s hook…In any season, the offerings of the Café Angèle restaurant-bar will comfort the unlucky fisherman and satisfy the appetite of the hungriest adventurer.

Here is a list of their services:

  • Campground
  • Marina
  • Convenience store
  • Restaurant
  • Rentals
  • Beach
  • Playground for kids
  • Volleyball court
  • Fishing licence
  • Access to snowmobile trails
  • Access to cross-country skiing trails

There is also the Tracks and Trails snowmobile trips that can make you enjoy nature in winter time. The excursion begins  in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, where you will load up your sleds in our enclosed baggage cars and then sit back and relax as we transport you north, through the breathtaking winter wonderland of Algoma Country. Enjoy  Lake Superior, snow choked rock cuts and deep mountain gorges as you wind your way through this rugged land towards the world famous Agawa Canyon. Once through the Canyon, the scenery gradually shifts from the mountainous pre-Cambrian shield to the boreal forests of the Great Clay Belt Region.
Get off along the line at Hawk Junction (Wawa) or Dubrevilville and ride the Superior Snow Challenge Loop or travel to the end of steel to begin your sledding adventure in the French Canadian town of Hearst, Ontario. The Railway provides many options to choose from. You can take the train both ways and do your riding in one area or for those who want to spend more time on the trails than the rails, you can take the train north and sled back to the Sault or sled up and train back. No matter where you choose, you will be in the heart of an incredible snowmobiler’s paradise with over a thousand miles of well groomed and signed trails waiting for you to discover.  Your sledding adventure doesn’t stop at the trails. You will discover friendly communities offering snowmobilers all the conveniences and comforts you desire after a day of riding. From quality, park at your door accommodations and restaurants to service centres, trail-side gas and local snowmobile clubs who take pride in their trails. The spirit of the north truly comes to life in winter. Hearst and the surrounding communities love to play host and with numerous carnivals, rallies and snowmobile racing events being held throughout the winter months, you will find more than trails to fill your days and nights. Whether it’s a couple of sleds, a large group, diehard riders or a relaxing family outing, incredible snowmobile experiences are waiting for you along the line.

Tour of the Line

Travel to the end of steel as you experience a 592-mile, round trip ‘Tour of the Line.’ The excursion begins at the Algoma Central Railway depot in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where you will board our regular passenger service for a day-long rail adventure through the wilderness of Northern Ontario, as you wind your way to your overnight destination of Hearst.
This excursion combines the rugged mixed forests of the Canadian Shield, experienced on the Agawa Canyon Train Tour, with the boreal forests of the Great Clay Belt region. In marked contrast to the mountainous Shield country, the Clay Belt region, home to the lordly moose, is a combination of level coniferous forests and great inland lakes teeming with northern pike and walleye.
Unlike the one-day Agawa Canyon Train Tour, which travels non-stop to the Canyon, you will be travelling on our regular passenger train, a unique service that picks up and drops off passengers at any point along the line. Sometimes called the milk run, you could stop for any number of reasons on your journey. From people heading to their private camps, a wilderness lodge getaway, fishermen, canoeists, kayakers, ATV’ers or snowmobilers, our passenger service provides an ideal way for people to access the recreational wilderness of Northern Ontario. This is the same service that members of Canada’s most notable landscape artists, the Group of Seven, travelled on in the 1920’s, to paint this beautiful region.
Among the many points of interest along the way are the trestles at Bellevue Valley – Mile 19, Montreal River – Mile 92, unparalleled vistas of Lake Superior, the descent into Agawa Canyon, where the train coasts down 500 feet over 12 miles to the floor of the Canyon. As you exit the Canyon at Mile 116, you will pass through the 50 foot wide gap of the awesome north portal, where the rail line hugs the overhanging west wall and the Agawa River carves its way past the foot of the sheer east wall. You will also cross the transcontinental lines of Canadian Pacific Railway at Franz – Mile 195 and Canadian National Railway at Oba – Mile 245. Between Franz and Oba, at Mile 210 and 212, you will cross over the floating bridges of Squaw and Hoodoo Bay, on gigantic Oba Lake. These bridges are supported by pilings driven deep into the bottomless northern muskeg.
On your arrival in the community of Hearst, you find the town a mixture of old and new. All visitors can experience a truly enjoyable French Canadian atmosphere complemented by quality dining and accommodations.

You can visit there website for more information:

These activities are just a few that we offer, we have many more tourism attraction such as sky competitions, hockey tournament, Hearst Hog, Heritage Sawmill etc… Hearst is a place you will definitely enjoy, if you ever pass by, stop at our tourism center to have more information.

A big thank you to Skylon Tower and Niagara Falls for sponsoring the Miss Teen Canada World 2nd blog challenge!

A bientot 🙂

I found an article on happiness and 9 tips to reach it. Are you truly happy? Do you even know what it means to be happy and what it takes to achieve happiness? These are important questions for anyone who is seeking happiness to ask themselves. I live my life to maintain my own happiness while trying my best to not cause unhappiness to anyone else. If you want to be happy you need to understand that you can be happy and that you should be happy. Many people make the mistake of believing that they don’t deserve happiness and accept their unhappy state as their destiny. The truth of the matter is that happiness, like anything else in life, needs to be nurtured. The following are a few tips that I follow to create happiness in my life. If you wake up tommorow saying today will be a good day, chances are it will be! If you wake up saying, I don’t want to go to school, I don’t want to go to work, chances are, your day will not be the best.

  1. Understand what it is that will make you happy. Everyone has unique requirements for attaining happiness and what makes one  person happy may be very different from what makes someone else happy. Revel in your individuality and do not worry about whether or not your desires are comparable to those of your peers.
  2. Make a plan for attaining goals that you believe will make you happy. Your mood will very likely increase as your pursue your goal because you will feel better about yourself for going after something you value.
  3. Surround yourself with happy people. It is easy to begin to think negatively when you are surrounded by people who think that way. Conversely, if you are around people who are happy their emotional state will be infectious.
  4. When something goes wrong try to figure out a solution instead of wallowing in self pity. Truly happy people don’t allow set backs to affect their mood because they know that with a little thought they can turn the circumstances back to their favor.
  5. Spend a few minutes each day thinking about the things that make you happy. These few minutes will give you the opportunity to focus on the positive things in your life and will lead you to continued happiness.
  6. It’s also important to take some time each day to do something nice for yourself. Whether you treat yourself to lunch, take a long, relaxing bath or simply spend a few extra minutes on your appearance you will be subconsciously putting yourself in a better mood.
  7. Finding the humor in situations can also lead to happiness. While there are times that require you to be serious, when it is appropriate, find a way to make light of a situation that would otherwise make you unhappy.
  8. Maintaining your health is another way to achieve happiness. Being overweight or not eating nutritious foods can have a negative effect on your mood. Additionally, exercise has been known to release endorphins that give you a feeling of happiness.
  9. Finally, it is important to understand that you deserve happiness. Those who believe that they are not worthy of happiness may subconsciously sabotage their efforts to achieve happiness. If necessary, tell yourself each day that you deserve to be happy and remind yourself what steps you will take to achieve the happiness you desire.

Happiness is hard to define but most people are aware of whether they are happy or not. Many people believe that happiness is a form of luck and that some people are destined to be happy while others are destined to be unhappy. I try to incorporate the tips above into my life and have had great success in achieving happiness.

I can’t wait for my photo shoot sunday with Marc Durocher from Timmins Ontario. Since I am a little girl, I always had a passion for clothes, shoes, make up and of course… TAKING PICTURES. Like many little girls, my dream was to be a model.

As I grew up I realized that I could not make my dream a career since I want to be a teacher in university. My bigger dream is to get a good education and eventually get a doctorate! Yes I know… 8  YEARS OF SCHOOL!!

I learned that in the end, when you work hard for something, it is always worth it! However, I still enjoy modeling! I had a few photo shoots with different photographers, Marc is by far my favorite! He made me feel comfortable and the results of the pictures were amazing! I recommend this photographer to everyone, models, family, prom pictures, kids, fitness, glamour…. everything!! Make sure to visit his facebook page!

In our generation, it is becoming more important to be aware about the things in the environment. We must find ways to think green and to be energy efficient   Being knowledgeable about terms like “LEED certified” and “green technologies” can help you do the right thing to make our futur a good one.  We must think of the next generations and we can definitely make a difference. Small steps can make a big change!

What is  LEED?

From individual buildings and homes to entire neighborhoods, LEED is transforming the way we think about how our buildings and communities are designed, constructed, maintained and operated across the globe. Comprehensive and flexible, LEED is a green building tool that addresses the entire building lifecycle recognizing best-in-class building strategies.LEED certification is presented based on performance in five key areas of human and environmental health, including sustainable site development , water efficiency, energu efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

What can LEED do for you?

  • Lower operating costs and increase asset value
  • Conserve energy, water and other resources
  • Be healthier and safer for occupants
  • Qualify for money-saving incentives, like tax rebates and zoning allowances

TIOCOAT Flat Roof Solutions

TIOCOAT flat roof solutions is a way to reduce energy consumption in a white  rubber roof coating. Tiocoat flat roof solution is a company that makes a white roof or rubber roof coating and it  is guaranteed for the life of the building. TIOOAT provides reflectivity of solar radiation, which will reduce the buildings energy .  It sure is something to consider!

The purpose of the Inovo Centre is to demonstrate various green energy technologies. You will find many features: a geothermal system, solar photovoltaic panels, a solar thermal system, a wind turbine and a wood pellet stove.

A unifying Centre of knowledge, innovation and research and development that works in the dissemination of knowledge and best practices for development of northern communities through strategic partnerships.

The Centre will contribute to the development of Northern Ontario by enabling organizations and communities to integrate economic, technological, ecological and social innovations while enjoying a diverse culture. Inovo center was build with local recycling. For example: The bricks from and old restaurant, the windows from the university, and the wood from our forests and many local products. What is renewable energy? It is energy which comes from renewable natural resource, such as water, that is continuously renewed during the human time scale. The Inovo center uses wind energy, solar energy and geothermal energy, which are all types of renewable energy.A wind turbine transforms energy from the wind into electricity and provides electricity to the Inovo Centre. The energy production varies according to wind speed up to 3kW. Solar energy transforms the energy from the sun’s rays into heat ( solar thermal) or electricity (photovoltaic). In the winter time, the air exchanger uses outside air heated by the JumboAir solar system in order to provide fresh air to the Inovo Center. The is also a photovoltaic panel that charges a battery to meet the essential electricity demand ( security lights, exit lights and parking lights). The sunrain system produces heat that is transferred to the geothermal system to meet building heating demand. Geothermal energy uses temperature from the ground to heat and to cool the building. The system has three key component. Heat pumps and distribution system and underground loops. The heat pumps are using the ground temperature, the heat pumps provide heating or cooling to the distribution system. The distribution system contains different parts, such as pipes, acomputer, a radiant heat system, heat and cooling furnaces, and batteries to store thermal energy. The underground loops are comprised of ten 150 foot deep piles. A heat transfer liquid circulates through the loops and is either heated or cooled by the ground temperature before coming back to the heat pump. The building has an eMonitor system that collects real-time energy consumption data for each electrical component : furnace, fridge, computer etc… The Data allows to identify components that consume too much energy and make the changes needed. Also, daylight is used in 75% of the building. They use rain water for landscaping.

Everybody can make a difference!

simple steps like:

  • Lower your heating and cooling costs by setting your thermostat a few degrees higher in the summer and a few degrees lower
  • Use cold water to wash your clothes as often as possible.
  • Dry your clothing using a drying rack or clothesline.
  • Phase out your standard light bulbs and install compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
  • Unplug appliances and electronic when they are not in use
  • walk instead of using a car
  • close the lights!
  • take shorter showers

Thank you for reading my post,

Miss teen Hearst world 🙂
